Innovation often occurs when people from different backgrounds and experiences collaborate to achieve a common objective and find new and better ways of doing things. This notion, coupled with disciplined experimentation, forms the basic premise for the LightSquared SandBox.

Introduction to the LightSquared Sandbox

The LightSquared SandBox facilitates developers for the purpose of growing an ecosystem of third party software, hardware, and applications providers who, working with LightSquared, will not only transform the wireless industry, but also other industries such as healthcare, automotive, transportation, education, media, entertainment, and energy.

The LightSquared SandBox will expose a test-bed 4G-LTE network with integrated satellite services and proximal technologies to application developers and technology innovators. Developers can optimize their products and services to run over the LightSquared network and provide a wide suite of offerings. In turn, the applications tested and demonstrated in the LightSquared SandBox will enable the wholesale partners to drive traffic across the LightSquared network.

LightSquared Sandbox Devices

LightSquared is also inviting hardware and device developers who are looking for new distribution channels for LTE phones, connected devices (M2M) and purpose built devices (e.g.: eReaders, tablets).

These innovators and developers will be able to test end-to-end applications and device combinations as well as analyze network performance, handovers between wireless technologies and the overall user experience. They will also be able to test ‘proof-of-concept’ during the early stages of technology and application development.

LightSquared Sandbox Themes

The LightSquared SandBox team will be working with experts and entrepreneurs in the following areas and more to test and optimize their solutions on the LightSquared network:
